Bellevue:

News:

  • The Transportation Commission advanced three corridors for final design and implementation as part of Bike Bellevue, focusing on Wilburton Route, Lake Washington Boulevard, and Northeast Second Street, to improve biking connections in Bellevue's urban core, contingent on preserving vehicle travel lanes in the latter corridor, with further actions planned for June 13.   • A high-end hot pot restaurant is planned for the about-to-be-vacated Din Tai Fung space in Lincoln Square North in Bellevue. The concept will offer diners an all-you-can-eat wagyu hotpot and Japanese barbecue. But do not worry Din Tai Fung is just moving across the street into the old Maggiano's space!  (info)

  • Niche revealed the best cities to live in Washington State for 2024 and Bellevue was crowned the best city to live in Washington! They were given a A+ rank with high marks in public school, nightlife, commutes, outdoor activities, and more. (info)

Events:

  • The City of Bellevue and the Bellevue Botanical Garden are hosting the 2024 EarthFest on April 20th from 11 am - 3 pm. EarthFest will be conducting a litter cleanup event before the official EarthFest event starts at 9 am. (info)

Redmond:

News:

  • The Eastside Climate Partnership announced its publication of the first coordinated greenhouse gas emissions inventories that include Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Mercer Island and Redmond. Recently the cities worked with Cascadia Consulting Group to standardize a methodology to inventory greenhouse gas emissions to compare data. (info)

  • Lil’ Kickers & Skills Institute Free Kids’ Soccer event. This event is open to the community, kids ages 18 months - 12 years will experience a fun and engaging sample soccer class with coaches. April 20th from 2 - 4 pm. (info)

Issaquah:

News:

  • Issaquah joined the Eastside Climate Partnership with other Eastside cities to help reduce regional sources of climate pollution and advance collective sustainability efforts. Issaquah’s 2022 greenhouse gas emission inventory found that community-wide emissions dropped by 12% compared with 2017 baseline emissions. (info)

Kirkland:

News:

  • Kirkland Police return three stolen French bulldogs to their family. Socks, Fancy, and Jon Poul were stolen last Friday from a gas station in Kirkland but officers were able to find them after a couple of days of investigation. (info)

  • The northbound I-405 off ramps to Totem Lake Boulevard and Northeast 124th Street in Kirkland from 9 pm Tuesday, April 16, to 4:30 am Wednesday, April 17. The southbound I-405 off-ramp to Northeast 124th Street in Kirkland from 9 pm April 17th to 4:30 am April 18th. Click the link for more info on the ramps that are closed off! (info)

Sammamish:

News:

  • True Martial Arts, a Sammamish studio granted more than $15,000 in scholarships to 12 high school seniors at the end of March. The $15,000 was evenly distributed amongst the recipients. (info)

  • The gas main replacement by PSE will affect 212th Ave SE, SE 27th St, SE 28th Pl, SE 32nd St, and SE 34th St starting from the week of April 15 for approximately one month. Lane restrictions on Louis Thompson Hill Road will be in place from April 8 to May 3 for Puget Sound Energy's gas main relocations. (info)

  • Join the Sammamish Earth Day event. There will be crafts, activities, booths, prizes, food trucks, a petting zoo, and much more. April 20th from 11 am - 2 pm. (info)

Renton:

News:

  • The city of Renton has many open positions on a board, committee, or commission for the city. This is a great way to participate in the civic process. Some of the openings include the Human Services Advisory Committee, Parks Commission, Planning Commission, and more. (info)

  • Long-term existing Renton Municipal Airport tenant, Pro Flight Aviation, has sold their existing business to a new operator, Dark Horse Aviation. Dark Horse is shifting the focus of the business to service jets shut out of Boeing Field. This will not make the airport have 24/7 air traffic. (info)

  • Renton 2024 Community Celebrations: Sustainability Fair at Renton Community Center from 11 am to 2 pm. (info)

  • Join a tour of historic buildings in Renton. The tour will cover the center and southern part of downtown. May 18th at 10 am or 1 pm. (info)

Mercer Island:

News:

  • On April 7th, police stopped two carjackers on Mercer Island. The chase started in South Seattle and ended with the arrest of the two suspects on Island Crest Way. (info)

  • Mercer Island saw a 9% rise in community emissions in 2022 due to increased transportation, urging the implementation of the City's Climate Action Plan, while also achieving an 8% reduction in municipal operations emissions compared to 2020, in line with Mayor Salim Nice's emphasis on standardized emissions methodology and collaborative efforts through the Eastside Climate Partnership. Fall City/Snoqualmie:

News:

  • An early morning fire in a downtown Snoqualmie retail building severely damaged Chickadee Bakeshop, Snoqualmie Pie Company, and Littlest Wishes Photography, with Snoqualmie Ice Cream sustaining water and smoke damage; investigations are ongoing while community support, including a GoFundMe organized by the SnoValley Chamber of Commerce, rallies around the affected businesses.   • Disney Rainbow Bingo with Sylvia O’Stayformore on April 19th at 7 pm. (info)

Bothell/Kenmore:

News:

  • Several Interstate 405 ramps in Bothell, Tukwila, and Kirkland will be closed overnight from April 14 to 19 for pavement repairs, including off-ramps to westbound SR 522 and Campus Way Northeast in Bothell, SR 181/West Valley Way in Tukwila, Totem Lake Boulevard, Northeast 124th Street, and various on-ramps in Kirkland.   • The City has announced the opening of its application to be a sponsor for their Fourth of July parade. (info)

  • Efforts to revitalize Kenmore's downtown, spurred by community feedback from the Love Where You Live Project, saw the involvement of the Northwest Urban Land Institute's expert panel during a two-day session held on March 6th and 7th, 2024, following grant funding from the Department of Commerce.   • Molbak's, a 67-year-old home-and-garden store in Woodinville, plans to transform its former site into a community hub for retailers and groups, aiming to raise $2.5 million for the initiative, following closure earlier this year due to lease issues. (info)

  • Weekend closures on SR 522 near the I-405 interchange, scheduled for April 12-15 and April 19-22, will involve the closure of the left general-purpose lane of westbound SR 522 and all lanes of eastbound SR 522 near the interchange, with detours directing eastbound SR 522 traffic onto southbound I-405 via Northeast 160th Street.   • We are looking to partner with local businesses to help grow our little community! If you run one or know of someone who runs please let us know and we would love to talk with them and learn more. 

  • This week in Redmond, Washington, expect partly cloudy skies with temperatures ranging from the mid-50s to low 60s Fahrenheit, making it ideal for outdoor activities or catching a Mariners game.
