Bellevue:

News:

  • Bellevue Council Roundup: Transportation Commission recommendations on Bike Bellevue and sign code update: The City Council reviewed updates on Bike Bellevue, aimed at enhancing the bicycle network in the urban core. The Transportation Commission recommended categories for 11 corridors, with most recommendations approved by the council. Additionally, the council initiated a comprehensive sign code update to support local businesses and comply with constitutional requirements.   • Wrong-way car collides with transit bus in Bellevue: A head-on collision occurred on Interstate 90 in Bellevue when a wrong-way car struck a transit bus exiting at the HOV off-ramp to Bellevue Way Southeast. The accident, which involved minor injuries, led to traffic delays. State Patrol, Incident Response, and Bellevue Fire Department responded to the scene, advising drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. (info)

  • City of Bellevue Launches Adopt-A-Street Program: Bellevue's new Adopt-A-Street initiative encourages individuals, families, businesses, and community groups to help keep the city clean by adopting a street section for litter removal.   • Paraglider rescued from Mt. Si crash: On August 4, 2024, a paraglider crash on the southern flank of Mt.   • King County to open its first walk-in mental health crisis center: Starting early August, a new crisis care center in Kirkland will offer psychiatric urgent care and in-patient units for those experiencing mental health emergencies. This facility, built by Connections Health Solutions, aims to provide an alternative to emergency rooms or jail for people in crisis.   • Houghton Beach Remains Closed to Water Activity: Houghton Beach in Kirkland will remain closed for at least one more week due to elevated bacteria levels found in recent tests. The beach, closed since July 16, will only reopen when water quality meets safe thresholds. King County Water and Land Resources Division will continue testing the water.   • Northeast 85th Street/I-405 Interchange Nightly Closures: Starting Friday, August 9, Northeast 85th Street will close nightly until 5 a.m. on Monday. News:

  • Riot Games plugs into the Mercer Island community: Riot Games opened its Mercer Island office on June 11, employing approximately 300 people.   • Resident suffers $10K loss in phone scam: Selected reports from July 30-Aug. 4 include a $10,000 phone scam in the 2700 block of 78th Avenue Southeast. A vehicle theft occurred when a resident left their apartment door open for cooling and a thief stole their car keys and vehicle, which was later recovered. Other incidents include a teenager arrested for DUI after crashing his car, and thefts of a cell phone and a ballot. (info)

  • Downtown Redmond Art Walk returns to Downtown Park: On Sept. 19, Redmond will host the second annual Downtown Redmond Art Walk (DRAW), featuring local artists and businesses.   • Beaver Lake Management District Advisory Board Vacancy: The City of Sammamish is accepting applications for a vacancy on the Beaver Lake Management District Advisory Board until 5 p.m. on August 29, 2024.   • ADA Barrier Removal Project: Crews are removing and replacing non-compliant curb ramps and damaged sidewalk panels along 228th Avenue Southeast. Work is expected to finish by September 18, with shortened hours when school starts. (info)

  • Maintenance Work: Starting August 12, asphalt repairs on 212th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 8th to 24th will occur between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Expect single-lane closures during this time. (info)

  • Overlay and Road Striping Projects: Pavement replacement continues on Issaquah Fall City Road from August 5-16. Road striping and thermoplastic markings maintenance will also occur intermittently throughout July and August. (info)

  • Traffic Signal & Street Light Pole Repainting: Crews are repainting poles on Southeast 30th Street near South Sammamish Park & Ride, with work lasting until the end of August from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Expect lane closures and traffic delays. (info)

  • Bellevue Brewing Company in Bellevue is a great spot to enjoy locally crafted beers alongside delicious pub fare. The brewery offers a relaxed and inviting atmosphere, making it perfect for casual outings with friends or family. Their food menu features a variety of options, including burgers, wings, and nachos, as well as more elevated dishes like steak and salmon. The beers, brewed in-house, are fresh and unique, providing a fantastic dining experience. 

  • Kati Vegan Thai in Kirkland offers a unique dining experience with its innovative and fresh vegan Thai dishes. Standout menu items include the Garlic Jackfruit on Sticky Rice, Cauliflower Bombs, and the Mango and Sweet Sticky Rice dessert. The entire menu is vegan, making it an excellent choice for those with dietary restrictions. The restaurant provides a positive ambiance with friendly staff and comfortable seating.
