  • Bellevue Extends Food Truck Pilot Program: The City of Bellevue is extending its food truck pilot program through Oct. 31, featuring a rotation of 11 trucks at City Hall Plaza on Tuesdays and Thursdays.   • Bellevue Council Discusses Comprehensive Plan Update and BelRed Growth: The City Council reviewed the 2024-2044 Comprehensive Plan Update, which focuses on growth and housing options, and voted to hold further discussions on Sept. 24 for public feedback.   • Extinct Bird Sculptures to Highlight Conservation at Bellevue Botanical Garden: The Bellevue Botanical Garden will feature large bronze sculptures of five extinct bird species by artist Todd McGrain starting in mid-September. This follows a larger 6.4 magnitude earthquake that shook Vancouver Island earlier this summer. No reports of significant damage have been made. (info)

  • 2024 Snoqualmie Plein Air Paint Out Winners Announced: This summer's Plein Air Paint Out in Snoqualmie focused on the city's iconic bridges, with local artists capturing the natural beauty of the Snoqualmie Valley.   • Mercer Island Burglary Suspects Arrested: On August 19, 2024, Mercer Island Police responded to a burglary on SE 31st Street, where video surveillance revealed two suspects entering the homeowner's garage. The suspects, identified through interagency cooperation, were recently arrested: the male suspect in Kent and the female suspect in Federal Way. The male suspect was linked to three other burglaries, while the female had a felony warrant. Charges have been filed with the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. (info)

  • Man who molested children at church sentenced to prison: A Redmond man was sentenced to at least eight years in prison on Friday after admitting to sexually abusing five boys under the age of 12. Buckland Darrell, targeted children in his ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints between 2016 and 2022. (info)

  • Renton Plans to Fix Flood-Prone Intersection: The intersection of SW 43rd Street and Lind Avenue SW near Ikea in Renton has faced frequent flooding, leading to road closures. The city is now initiating a design process to upgrade the storm system, aiming to reroute stormwater and alleviate congestion in the outfall system. This solution will help prevent further flooding, particularly as climate change could worsen conditions.   • Carco Theatre Nominated for Governor’s Employer Award: Carco Theatre in Renton has been nominated for the 2024 Governor’s Employer Award in the “Small Nonprofit Employer” category, which recognizes organizations for their outstanding work in recruiting, hiring, and promoting workers with disabilities. The award, organized by the Washington State Governor’s Committee on Disability Issues & Employment (GCDE), celebrates private, nonprofit, public, and youth employers for fostering inclusion in the workplace.   • Renton Traffic Impacts for the Week of September 16, 2024: Several road closures and intermittent lane reductions will affect Renton drivers from September 16-20. Among the projects, Sunset Lane NE remains fully closed, and closures will occur on Kirkland Ave NE, Monroe Ave NE, and Nile Ave NE for utility installations. Lind Ave SE will have a right-turn lane closed from September 16-23 for ADA improvements. Southbound I-405 will also be closed from September 13-16 for paving, with detours in place.   • Sammamish Traffic Updates for Sept. 13, 2024: Starting Sept. 23, the City will begin stormwater pipe inspections, including cleaning services, along major roads like Issaquah Fall-City Road and Issaquah Pine Lake Road. Minimal traffic disruptions with occasional single-lane closures are expected. Additionally, from Sept. 15-19, crews will pave the eastbound lane of SE 24th Street near Beaver Lake Lodge, with alternating traffic directed by flaggers. (info)

  • SR 202 Closure for Fish Passage Project: Both directions of SR 202 near Northeast 124th Street will close from Sept. 15 to Sept. 20 to remove a fish barrier and install a new culvert. The closure, starting at 8 p.m. on Sept. 15 and lasting until noon on Sept. 20, affects the area north of Northeast 124th Street. Detours will route traffic via Northeast 124th Street, I-405, and SR 522. People walking, biking, or rolling should use the Sammamish River Trail. Access to local businesses and residences remains open, though extra travel time is advised. (info)

  • Public Comment Period Open for Draft Capital Improvement Plan: The City of Woodinville is seeking community feedback on the Draft Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for 2025-2030. The CIP includes projects focused on streets, parks, surface water improvements, facilities, and property acquisition, all aimed at enhancing the quality of life in Woodinville.
