  • Comprehensive Plan and Budget Hearing: Bellevue City Council moved to draft an ordinance for the Comprehensive Plan, guiding 20 years of growth, with approval expected on Oct. 22. The second public hearing on the 2025-2026 budget highlighted priorities like environmental stewardship and pedestrian safety, with final adoption slated for Nov. 19.   • Bellevue Network on Aging Recruitment: The City of Bellevue is seeking new members for the Bellevue Network on Aging, with applications due by Oct. 31. The group promotes resources and awareness for older adults through outreach and community involvement, with members serving a three-year term. Applicants must live, work, or serve older adults in Bellevue, and at least 51% of members must be over 50 years old. (info)

  • Bellevue Man Sentenced for Murder of Ex-Wife: Dylan Jennings was sentenced to nearly 32 years for the first-degree murder of his estranged wife, Anna Lopez, at Sam’s Tavern in July 2021. Jennings had plotted the murder for over a week, using a stolen gun, and showed no remorse during his confession to investigators. His sentence included an additional 60 months for a firearm enhancement. (info)

  • Man Sneaks into Bellevue Apartment, Exposes Himself, and Refuses to Leave: A man, Steven Malepeai, broke into a Bellevue apartment occupied by international students, exposed himself, and refused to leave. Despite their attempts to get him to go, he stayed until police arrived and found him lying in a bed. Malepeai was charged with residential burglary and remains in jail on $100,000 bail. (info)

  • Cedar Falls Way Overlay Project Continues September 30: Becker Blacktop crews are set to begin the paving portion of the Cedar Falls Way overlay project on September 30 and October 1, following the completion of asphalt grinding. Temporary lane shifts and closures are expected, but there will be no full closure of Cedar Falls Way, and driveway access will remain open. (info)

  • Update on Issaquah Creek Advisory: The sewer leak on private property in the Wildwood neighborhood has been fixed, but the advisory for Issaquah Creek will remain in effect until October 3.   • Thieves Use Hiker's Stolen Credit Cards for Issaquah Shopping Spree: Two men broke into a woman’s car at Poo Poo Point on September 2, stealing her purse and using her credit cards for multiple purchases at Target in Issaquah, including a PlayStation 5. The King County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspects, believed to be driving a silver Ford Fusion. (info)

  • Three Injured in Head-On Collision on Issaquah Hobart Rd SE: A head-on collision occurred near WA 18 on Monday around 10:30 a.m., resulting in three injuries. One person sustained critical injuries and was transported to a hospital, while two others were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, prompting emergency crews to shut down the area for investigation.   • Fatal Stabbing Incident: A 66-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Renton on Friday afternoon. Police received a report of the stabbing around 2 p.m. in the 3100 block of NE 18th St. A 19-year-old male caller admitted to stabbing a handyman and stated he would wait for officers on the front porch. Upon arrival, officers found the teenager outside and the victim inside with stab wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim died at the scene, and the circumstances leading to the stabbing remain unclear. (info)

  • Shooting at Liberty Park: Renton police are investigating a shooting that injured a man early Monday morning. Officers found the victim with a gunshot wound to the leg near Liberty Park around 3:50 a.m. He was treated on-site and taken to a nearby hospital; his condition is unknown. The victim and suspect were known to each other, and the shooting stemmed from an argument. The suspect has not been arrested. (info)
