Bellevue:
News:
Bellevue to hold public hearing on human services needs and federal funding priorities: Bellevue's Human Services Commission will hold a public hearing on October 20 at 6 PM (both in-person and online) to gather community input on housing and human services needs, which will help shape the commission's funding recommendations and the city's 2026 Community Development Block Grant annual action plan. The hearing focuses on services for low- and moderate-income residents, including food assistance, shelter and homelessness prevention, financial aid, behavioral health services, childcare, and support for youth, older adults, and people with disabilities. Written comments can be submitted to [email protected] by noon on October 20, and the draft 2026 CDBG plan will be posted for a 30-day public comment period after the hearing. (info)

Bothell & Kenmore:
News:
Bothell launches community input process for Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Plan update: Bothell is kicking off a community engagement effort this fall to update its Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Plan, a strategic document updated every six years that guides how the city manages parks, trails, recreation programs, and open spaces. The update will assess current offerings, identify future needs, and set priorities for the coming years while keeping the city eligible for state grant funding that supports park and recreation projects. Residents can share their feedback, ideas, and vision for Bothell's parks and recreation system by visiting the project page at bothellwa.gov/286/Parks-Recreation-Open-Space-PROS-Plan. (info)
Kenmore adding 4 rotating speed cameras across 16 locations starting November: Kenmore's Automated Photo Enforcement (KAPE) program is expanding with four new mobile safety cameras that will rotate between 16 council-approved locations every 2-4 months based on speed data, targeting areas where pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers share the road. Each site will get a 60-day warning period when cameras first arrive (no tickets issued), and all 16 locations will have speed feedback signs and photo enforcement notices posted year-round so drivers know to slow down whether cameras are present or not. Since the program launched in 2023, only about 1% of drivers have received tickets, showing most people are slowing down on their own, and all revenue goes directly to safety improvement projects for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. What we are currently loving!
Melrose Grill (Renton): A classic, wood-paneled steakhouse in a century-old building where martinis are cold, booths are cozy, and USDA Prime cuts hit the table with old-school swagger. Order the filet or the namesake “Melrose Cut,” tack on a wedge salad, and enjoy the time-capsule vibe that’s made this Renton institution a date-night layup.
Weather this Week:
The week starts off gray and damp, with mostly cloudy skies and a chance of light rain midweek—just enough to remind us fall is settling in. By the weekend, showers stick around, softening the light and nudging us toward cozy indoor rhythms. It’s the kind of week that calls for umbrellas, warm drinks, and short strolls when the skies allow it.
